The protection level symbol consists of a special letter IP and two characteristic numbers representing the protection level. The first characteristic number immediately after the IP represents the level of protection against human contact with live or rotating parts inside the motor and against solid foreign objects entering the motor. The second digit represents the level of protection against water entering the motor.
The first representation number is divided into six levels: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. 0 represents no protection. 1. 2, 3, and 4 are designed to prevent solids larger than 50mm, 12mm, 2.5mm, and 1mm from entering the motor. 5 is a dustproof motor, and the second digit represents nine levels: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. 0 is unprotected, and 1 is designed to prevent vertical dripping. 2. 3 respectively to prevent water from entering at any angle within 15 and 60 from the perpendicular. 4 to prevent splashing in any direction. 5 to prevent water spray from any direction. 6 to prevent the impact of waves or strong water spray. 7 is anti immersion. 8 is a submersible motor.
